Hey guys nahi bolungi, bcoz bahut hi cliche lagta hai !! 😜 Welcome back to Blog 3 of my weight loss journey called " A Blissful Journey". Earlier, In blog 2 I was doing gym and having "Home Style" food only.
And the Good news is I lost weight too.
And then my family planned a trip to MANALI....!!!
So, the trip started... It was fun to have a road trip with family always. The trip started smoothly early in the morning and then to have lunch we stopped at Cafe Monal in kullu where due to dusshera, there was lot of traffic.
But, overall it was a nice stop.
While on such a vacation with your family or friends, it becomes quite difficult to maintain a healthy diet or to control over-eating. You may think that how does that matter,one small vacation or trip for a day or two; that's not gonna ruin my health schedule, but it can.
So, the question is How to stay Fit & maintain your diet while on a vacation or trip??
So, I'm gonna tell things that I did to maintain myself.
Firstly, for instance, if you started the trip in morning, then have a heavy good breakfast so that you don't feel to munch on the snacks. You can take some Makhanas (fox nuts) or Murmure (Puffed rice) from home to have healthy snack on a trip.
Then, we stopped at Cafe Monal in Kullu for lunch. I had a normal Ghar ka khanna type food. Just a vegetable and chapati. And, as I said earlier there was dushera fair at Kullu; which is world famous. So, we went to fair and bought some really cheap and nice stuff there.
After that, when we reached at our proper stay in Manali. We went for a walk there and had interaction with some locals.
While on a vacation, don't take too much stress to maintain yourself that you even forgot to enjoy yourself.
And the next day, actual trip started. We went to Solang Valley where we enjoyed a lot. We did some quad biking, rode a Gandola (Solang Valley Rope Way) and it was really fantabulous experience.
Generally, there are lot of opportunities(if it's right to say) to walk in mountains. So, I did that a lot with taking care of my eating habits and enjoying myself equally.
Then with lot of selfie taking and walking, we reached at another beautiful view along the banks of Beas river. So, basically mountains are so beautiful that one can do photo shoot anywhere.
For the health tips. One can choose to stay where hotel staff will provide you food as per your wish. Or one could choose to have home stay where you can rent a place to live all by your own. Or now-a-days, people choose to live with locals at their place to experience the true local culture of place.
We went for River Rafting on next day which was so amazing and adventurous. I had never done that earlier and the water there was so icy cold and .....OMG!! It was scaringly amazing.
I even tasted the local cuisine there. There is a dish called "Thuk pa" which basically is Tibetan noodle soup and also consumed by local people at Manali too. And we had Trout fish there too which was so good.
When all day we were travelling and sightseeing. I realized that I wasn't able to hydrate myself properly and not drinking enough water.
So, you must stay hydrated while travelling. It's super easy to forget to hydrate throughout the day, especially when you are out. So, keep a handy water bottle with you to stay hydrated. And,try to do whatever kind of workout is possible to be done.
And, just because you are on vacation doesn't mean you should splurge on fast food and sweets everyday.
Yeah! I know we all want to have fun when we are travelling and want to indulge our taste buds a little more. That is 100% okay! Eating is huge part of travelling to all of us. But, don't overdo it.
Remember to maintain a balanced diet so that you are getting proper nutrients for your body and keep your body healthy. I tried my best to have balanced diet on trip.
Due to the pandemic all over the world. Some of the important things to be taken care of are...
- Get vaccinated before travelling to any far off place. It's important.
- Avoid any food which looks old or you can't identify it.
- Unsanitary and improper handling of meat products can contaminate them. Try to have food from places where proper sanitation is done.
- Do wear mask everywhere you go and wash your hands every time you get a chance to.
So, my trip to Manali was total fun. And this was all I did to keep myself Healthy and Fit while on a vacation. You may follow these suggestions, while you are on a vacation to maintain your health without much compromising your enjoyment.
